Notes
!SOURCE: "Descendants of Henry Rice Jerauld," email from Norma Roberts
(email hidden) to Weldon Whipple, 12 Sep 2009. Notes the
following:- He was a railroad laborer, so he probably traveled a lot.
This may be why his first and second marriages occured in Illinois and
Ohio.Charles also had an uncle and grandmother who lived in Trumbull Co., Ohio
and this may help explain how he met and married his wife in Trumbull Co.,
Ohio.
- His family is listed in the 1870 U.S. Census, living in the city
of Galesburg, Knox County,Illinois: Charles -26, Minnie-31, William-4, and
Chester-2. He is listed as a railroad laborer.
- The family was still
living in Knox Co., in 1880, when Nora was born.
- In 1881, the family
settled at or near Auburn, Nemaha Co.,Nebraska. (This date is taken from the
obituary of William Tuttle Jerauld in 1947).
- Sylvia died in Feb., 1882,
at Nebraska City, Otoe Co.,Nebraska. She was probably living in a sick house,
trying to recover from the typhoid fever which finally took her
life.
- Sometime after the death of Sylvia, the family returned to Knox
County, Illinois, with the exception of their son William (15 when his mother
died), who remained in Nemaha County, Nebraska.
- The family was split up
after Charles return to Knox County.
- He married a third time to Louise
(Luella) Working. None of the children by his second marriage have been found
living with this new family.
- In 1886, Charles was still living in Knox
County,Ill. when two sons (Twins) were born.
- At least between 1888 and
1891, this family was living at Morristown, Winnebago Co.,Illinois.
- By
1910 they are living in Arlington , Reno County, Kansas.
- He died after
a short illness at the home of his son, Chester Jerauld, southwest of
Arlington, Langdon Township, Reno Co.,Kansas.
