Based on the 1850 (and subsequent) census, I would like to propose that Wallace Whipple {44682} and William Whipple {[formerly at 103404]} are the same person, the son of Inman Whipple {44662}. Here's the 1850 census info:

• Sept. 6, 1850 Census, Newstead, Erie, NY, p.219:
  • Whipple, Inman {44662} 35 farmer, b. NY
  • Whipple, Harriet {44681} 29 b. NY
  • Whipple, William W. {44682 and [former] 103404} 9 b. NY
  • Whipple, Job {44684} 3 b. NY
  • Whipple, Alfred E. {103393} 1 b. NY

In 1850 our man is William W., in 1860 he is Wallace, and in 1870 he's back to using William. Shall we dub him William Wallace Whipple?
