The death record of Rufus 1804-1889 [Stephen's son] states that his parents were Rufus Whipple and Betsey Gale. YThis has stumped people for a long time because no records could be found to confirm this, YWe believe that the death record is in error. There was a pension bill for a Betsey Whipple widow of Stephen Whipple and believe that this is in fact Betsey Gale who married Stephen Whipple not Rufus Whipple.
