!SOURCE: Email from Beverly Huckins (email hidden) to Weldon Whipple, 27 Jul 2006. Identifies the Otis who married Susanna Whipple and the Otis who was the son of Otis Whipple and Mary Arnold as the same person. Beverly notes:

received this information as speculative from a descendant of Susanna, however, I just found mention of an Otis with a birth date that is somewhat off which notes Otis who was in Utica NY was born in Mendon MA and came with his father Otis Whipple Sr to Deerfield and later was a clerk in Utica, NY. Source is Pioneers of Utica, MM Bagg, 1877, pg 513, birth date of December 16. 1781)

The source indicates that Otis started a company with Cyrus Trowbridge (his brother in law), located in Lowville. He resided in Utica 1820 and was a "writer", after which he was a dealer in land and later still a justice of the peace. From my database, Susanna's sister, Nancy Whipple, was married to Cyrus Trowbridge. This would lead me to believe this Otis was married to Susanna dau of Benjamin.

Otis died October 13, 1861 and was married twice (no names listed) and had at least four children as listed in the source book, 1) Charlotte who lived at home unmarried when Otis died, 2) Mrs. Bigelow, 3) Mrs. Alfred Putnam, and son 4) Edward. Nothing further on the children but it does mention that he had a nephew, Otis W. Whipple who was a clerk in the post office in Unity from 1820-1827 and then worked at the Bank of Utica, bookkeeper and accountant. This same source mentions that also in Utica was a Robert Whipple who had a business with Arnold Wells, his son in law. BB (Bradbury) Whipple is also listed as a cigar maker and Caleb and Caleb Jr are also listed as residents, no further information.
