!CHILDREN: Janice McAlpine (email hidden), in email to Weldon Whipple on 29 Apr 2015, indicates that some genealogies incorrectly list the following as a son of John Wilkinson and Rebecca Scott: William Wilkinson, b. 1723 in Providence, RI, d. 1796 in Virginia, married 1743 to Huldah Godwin. Janice cites the book "Descendants of Irish Immigrant John Wilkinson (1726-1806)," by William Amel Sausaman (published 1971). According to that source, the Virginia Wilkinsons of the period were not releated to the Rhode Island Wilkinson.
