!SOURCE: Email from Neil Whipple (email hidden) to Weldon Whipple, 16 Jun 2024. He writes:

After the death of her husband Nathan in the Revolutionary War in 1779, census data indicates that Hannah and her teenage children may have been living in the household of her daughter Patience (who had married Thaddeus Gilbert) in 1790 and 1800. The absence of a second mature female in the 1810 census implies that Hannah had passed away in her 70s prior to 1810.

A probate court filing on 16 November 1791, signed by Hannah Whipple, references her deceased husband, Nathan Whipple. In the document she writes: "I being a poor widow in low circumstances have for a number of years refused to administer on my deceased husband's estate and do still refuse on condition that Letters of Administration may be granted to Roswell Hopkins, Esq. on my said deceased husband Nathan Whipple Estate which I desire may be granted to said Roswell Hopkins given under my hand and seal the 16th day of November 1791."
