!GRANDPARENTS: Benjamin Whipple (1688-1788) and Sarah Bernon. --J.E. Davis, Nov 1999. In 6 Dec 1999 email, J.E. Davis hypothesizes that Thomas might actually be the grandson of Benjamin Whipple's second wife, Esther Miller, through their son Joseph Whipple "(1737-?) [who] resided in Plainfield, CT and Perry Mills, NY. As you may recall from my earlier message, the Thomas and Lucy Whipple that I suspect are my Benjamin F. Whipple's parents are buried in the Perry Mills cemetery, Clinton Co., NY. Therefore, Joseph may be the missing link. I need to check out the census indexes for Clinton Co., NY for 1790 and 1800 to see if Joseph is mentioned there.
"If this does prove out, then my Benjamin F. Whipples lineage would be Thomas & Lucy, Joseph (wife Katherine Greene), Benjamin (2nd wife Esther Miller), Benjamin (Ruth Mathewson), Capt. John & Sarah Whipple. However, I think I need much more proof than currently available to verify this lineage."

According to a questionnaire completed by Thomas Rodman Whipple (1804-1902) of Roscoe, IL, his grandparents were: Joseph Whipple, born 7 June 1737 in RI, died in 1818 in Perrys Mills, Clinton Co. NY and Katherine (Greene) Whipple, born 4 Dec 1740 in Coventry, RI, died in 1812 in Pittsford, VT. They were the parents of Thomas Whipple (https://whippl e.one-name.net/tng/getperson.php?personID=I45076&tree=whipple) of Perrys Mills, NY who was Thomas Rodman Whipple's father.https://whipple. one-name.net/tng/getperson.php?personID=I45080&tree=whipple
Thomas Rodman Whipple indicates that he married 1) Delia Sweet 28 May 1838 and they had 4 daughters: Esther Ann Matilda b. 5 June 1839; Lucy Ann Margaret born 7 Feb 1843; Katherine born 2 Feb 1846 and died 15 Apr 1847; and Emily born 22 July 1848. His first wife died 9 Mar 1850 in Roscoe, IL. He married 2) Rhoby Bancroft 26 Nov 1855 in Newark, WI and they had 3 daughters: Mary born 21 June 1857; Anna B. born 3 July 1859 and Sarah born 21 Mar 1862.
