I have Virgil as son of Jabez E. Whipple I10224 and Abigaill Hammond but do not have an actual record for proof.Y I do have enough circumstantial evidence to convince me of his lineage as follows:
- The obit for Virgil indicates he was born in New Salem, Franklin County, Massachusetts (this is where Jabez was living in the census and where his daughter Augusta was born; additionally, it is where Jabez and his second wife areY buried).
- The names of Virgil's children mirror those of others in this line - Welcome - Virgil - Augusta - JabezY - Homer (middle name Ellis which would have been the maiden name of Virgil'sY grandmother).
- The census indicates Virgil was born in Massachusetts and his obit indicates he came to McHenry County from Massachusetts in 1844.
