He writes: "While there's no doubt that her forename was Mary, it is highly unlikely that her maiden name was Ibrook (the attribution of which is presumably based on the fact that William and Mary Whipple gave a son that forename). First, Richard Ibrook (Hingham, 1635) had no sons who lived to adulthood (Robert Charles Anderson, _The Great Migration: Immigrants to New England, 1634X1635, Volume IV, IXL_ [Boston, 2005], 1X2). And second, it was on William Whippleus side of the family that Ibrook appears, as the maiden name of his maternal grandmother, Margaret (Ibrook) Tower, and the forename of her son, Whippleus maternal uncle, Ibrook Tower (ibid., 2; Charlemagne Tower, _Tower Genealogy: An Account of the Descendants of John Tower, of Hingham, Mass._ [Cambridge, Mass., 1891], 1, 47, 54X55)."
