Hi, Dr James Madison Whipple(1829-1900) is a lose end. And I believe that he the son of Dexter Whipple(1784-1858)
I found some old family letters I've not had time to read completely but they are letters he sent home to saratoga county in NY on his trip across country in the 1840s, from Algoma and sac and fox Indian territory two stops along his way.
He writes to Dexter and Archibald disappointed to not ever hear from his family. He had a baby named little Nancy with Mary Case his wife, that he was sad to lose to illness who I assume he named after his mother.
I'd love to be able to confirm this info and connect the content of his letters to his living descendants. Of course I need to scan them first. I've attached a photo of part of one...
