!BIOGRAPHY: "Esek removed from Glocester and went to Cooperstown, NY c 1792 and then to DeKalb, NY c1807. In May or June 1777 he enlisted at the port of New Bedford, Mass, on board sloop 'Providence' commanded by John Peck Rathbone and served as a mariner and was regularly discharged. About the middle of March, 1778, he enlisted at Providence as a mariner on the 'Providence' under Capt. Abraham Whipple and served 9 months and was discharged at Boston, May 1779. Served as a mariner from Boston on 'Queen of France' under Capt. John Peck Rathbone." --J. Lahr-Kreischer
