!CONFLICT: In email to the Whipple Website dated 23 Mar 2001, John & Va Donna (email hidden) give information to identify Clarinda's parents:
"I would like to comment on the Clarinda Whipple Letson controversy.I do research genealogy on this Whipple family because it`s my family and I feel I have some knowledge on this."I`m sure the misunderstanding occured when a Mrs. Stone prepared and published a family history on her family, "The Decendants of Mathew R. Letson". She spelled the name MATHEW. She hired a research to help find Clarinda Whipple, Mathew`s second wife. The researcher reported to her a Clarinda, daughter of Benjamin and Amy Tyrell born in 1814. Mrs. Stone always felt uncomfortable with that information.
"Years later Mrs. Stone and I came into contact with each other. I helped her sort out the Clarinda situation. The correct Clarinda Whipple was the daughter of William W. and Rosannah Whipple. She was born August 1, 1814 in Chenango County, New York. She and Mathew Letson were married September 3, 1837. Some of Clarinda`s siblings were Lyman, William H., Rufus G., Polly and Minerva.
"We verify this information by a letter that Mrs. Stone has that was written on November 20, 1870 by Clarinda`s daughter Emily Jane Letson to her cousin Emma Whipple in Franklin, Iowa. Emma Whipple was the daughter of William W. and Almira Root Whipple. William W. was a brother to my ancestor Rufus G. Whipple.
