Indiana, Wills and Probate Records, 1798-1999, Grant (County), Will Records, vol. 1, 1916-1928, Ancestry.com, extracted 31 Oct 2019, states "Sanford T. Baldwin, being duly sworn, on oath says that Carrie Belle Whipple departed this life on or about the 28th day of January 1897 and at the time of her death was a resident of said County and State." Her will states, in part: "I hereby give...to Henry Clark and Harriet B. Clark, my grand-father and grand-mother, all my estate...to use the realty for their joint and several lives...At their death I devise all my realty...to Fred S. Clark and Lottie Clark his wife...my uncle and aunt...signed 11 January 1897. The newspaper report of her death identifies her as "Miss Carrie Whipple Lane of Marion, Ill." [Hartford Courant (Hartford CT, 1 Feb 1897, p.3, Newspapers.com, extracted 31 Oct 2010], but the evidence of the probate shows that she died in Marion, Indiana. Also, she was identified by the last name "Lane" due to her mother's 2nd marriage., to Mr. Lane.
