!RESIDENCES: "By the N.H. 1800 census, Barneville had moved to Swanzey, Cheshire Co., N.H., just north of Richmond, N.H. Here he was recorded as Bormivella. ... [Then] he moved back to Massachusetts before moving to Easton," Washington, Co., N.Y., where he appears in the 1810 federal census as Barable. His military land records were first located in the Hancock County Court House, Carthage, Illinois. --G. Yost
!MILITARY: Served in the War of 1812. He is listed as Barney B. Whipple in the list of Pensioners of the War of 1812 Vermont Claimants. He is also listed as Barnabas B. Whipple in "Illinois Military tracts, War of 1812 Bounty Lands." --G. Yost
!NAME: "Barneville Whipple Sr. probably was called Barnable or Barney long before he adopted this name. It is also possible that his parents gave him the name, Barnable, but the spelling was phonetic and he ended up with the name, Barneville. --G. Yost
