Source states Major Whipple was the ancestor of two of the name of Oliver now residing in Hamilton. One of them, brother to Jonathan, deceased of Salem, is descended through his mother's ancestor who was Martha Whipple, the daughter of Nathaniel Whipple who was the son of Captn. John who was the son of Major Matthew. Major Matthew m Joanna Appleton by whom he had Matthew, John, Joanna, Appleton and William and afterwards m Martha Ringe, the granddaughter of General Daniel Dennison.
