• Memorial of Samuel Appleton of Ipswich MA, Isaac Appleton Jewett, 1850 (this source notes Samuel's children as Oliver, John, Major Isaac, and Joannah who m Nathaniel Whipple? and had a son Appleton b 1693?. Source also cites Joannah Appleton dau of Isaac (brother to this Oliver, granddau of Samuel) who m William Story of Boston, grandfather of the late Judge Story.
• Will of Samuel Appleton Ipswich, County of Essex in New England written April 17, 1695 Note, this is the will of Samuel, called Sr, father of Samuel b1654 by wife Hannah. Names eldest son Samuel, son John, daughters Hannah (Downes), Judith (Wolcott, and Johanna Whipple, son Issac unmarried at the time, and son Oliver then under 21, names overseers as John Appleton, Joseph Gerrish, Col Wade, Liet Stacey, Cornet (Captn)Whipple and Ensign Jewett.
