!CONFLICT: The estimated birth date of "about 1768," given by C.W. Farnham, is earlier than the marriage date he gives for Zenas' parents. Farnham says that Zenas died 12 Feb 1843 at 75 years, citing Janet Wethy Foley's Early Settlers of New York State: Their Ancestors and Descendants (originally published in 1942, in 9 volumes), 3:405-406. A 1993 reprint of Foley's book (in 2 volumes, by Genealogical Pub. Co., Baltimore) lists Zenas on p. 791 of volume 2, where Zenas death is listed as "17 Feb 1843, 75y." (Note that it is 17, not 12 Feb.). Could all the children of Ezekiel and Anne (Mowry) Smith be in error? or is the age at death (75y) simply too high? -- Weldon Whipple, 19 Nov 1998, in response to a query from Ellis Gove Smith.
