"Capt. James3 Redway (John2, James1) was born not about 1719 but on 10 January 1678[/9] (Rehoboth VR, 1:36, 10 Jan. 1678 [Old Style dating assumed: parents m. 27 December 1677]); he died at Rehoboth on 30 May 1760, in his 83d yr. (gravestone, Palmer's River Meeting House [2d Congregational Church] Cemetery). He married first, at Rehoboth on 18 August 1719, Joanna Hildreth (Heldrech, Heldrick, etc.), who was born at Woburn, Mass., 16 November 1695, and died at Rehoboth on 15 February 1741[/2], in her 47th yr., daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth (Wilson) Hildreth (Rehoboth VR, 1:38; Woburn VR, 2:135; gravestone, Palmer's River Meeting House Cemetery; for complete details about her, see NEHG Register 146[1992]:337-42).While there's no proof as to the identity of second wife Mary Whipple, Capt. Redway's age (69) at the time of his marriage to her (14 April 1748) makes it likely that she was the widow of William Whipple (who had died less than a year and a half earlier) rather than his daughter (aged 24 when the marriage occurred).

[Note: That would be Mary (Ibrook) Whipple. --Weldon Whipple, 19 Aug 2012. See Charles M.
