!MARRIAGE: "Austin's _Genealogical Dictionary_ lists his wife as Hannah Wilkinson, daughter of Josias and Hannah (Tyler) Wilkinson. The Dexter family genealogy names Mary Whipple as his wife; possibly he was twice married. His children were: John, Anne, James, David, Hopestill, and Mercy Dexter. Genealogies of Rhode Island Families, from Rhode Island Periodicals (Baltimore: Genealogical Pub. Co., 1983), 2:9.
