!SOURCE: Email from Martha Day (email hidden) to the Whipple Website, 27 May 2013. Born in "Mansfield, Ct but registered in Wales, Ma." Martha's initial email was about Abraham Whipple (Samuel's father, according to her note). Prior to receiving her note, Samuel's parents were not known. Here is Martha's note in full (emphasis added):
Information concerning the Abraham Whipple b 1734 in Enfield, Ct. He married Abigail Hebard ( Hibbard) about 1756. Abigail was the child of Thomas Hebard and Anna Strickland See the official book for William Bradford of the Mayflower.( for Abigail's birth and parentage) Their first child was Mary Whipple b 29 June, 1758 Mansfield, Ct but registered In Wales, Ma along with Anna Whipple b Dec 13, 1760 and Samuel b Jan 9th 1763. Mary Whipple married William Chaffee well documented in the Revolutionary War. They lived in Enfield, Ct. I have a probate record for Abigail Whipple ( Hebard) written May 1758 In Windham, Ct. She was asking her guardian to release her inheritance from her father now that she is married. It has both her signature as well as Abraham Whipple's. I do not know the date not place of the deaths for Abraham nor Abigail Whipple. Since their only children appear to be the three listed perhaps one or the other died by 1765 or so. Am still looking.Martha wrote another note on2 Jun 2013:
One further bit ofY information was found in a probate record for Abigail Hebard where both she and Abraham sign.Y Abigail Hebard is listed in the William Bradford book in the sixth generation ( births listed but nothing more) I am pretty sure that I have Abraham Whipple's death of 27 June, 1819. It is confusing because the other Abraham Whipple of the Rev War fame died 27 May 1819 but in Marietta , Ohio.Y He was born in 1732 in Rhode Island. I also think that the Samuel Whipple that you have in an undocumented lineage was Mary Whipple's brother.Y He was born 9 Jan, 1763 again to Abraham andY Abigail Hebard..I think he married an Ester and had about ten children.
