Nathan and Hannah White and their six children left Somers, Connecticut for Sharon, Connecticut sometime between 1766 and 1775 (most likely after 1771). He first served in the Revolutionary War for Connecticut in 1777 through 1778. He apparently moved to nearby Amenia, NY that same year and enlisted in the 2nd Regiment, 3rd Company New York Line on 31 Oct 1778 (at age 46) where he died in service 8 months later on 24 June 1779. His regiment was part of the famous Sullivan Expedition in upstate New York.Nathan's widow, Hannah, and their children's families lived in Amenia, NY for a few years and then moved to Chenango County, New York in the early 1800s. The census records between 1790 and 1830 show large numbers of children living the households of this extended family, indicating that Nathan and Hannah may have had over 20 grandchildren (almost all of whom have yet to be identified by name)
