In a newspaper article on the event of the 95th birthday of her daughter, (Charlotte (Root) Godfrey, it is written that Cynthia Swas born during the Battle Bennington and within the sound of the guns". The Battle of Bennington is considered a turning point in the American Revolutionary War that took place on 16 August 1777.
