!BIOGRAPHY: "Migrated to Whitestone in Montgomery Co. NY before 1790. Levi had served in the RI Line during the Rev. War and had been granted land patents. According to local histories, Levi and Joanna Brown migrated from Whitestone to Nelson, NY, in March 1796 on a sled drawy by two yoke of oxen and driving ten sheep and a small herd of cattle. They settled on a 150-acre farm just west of what would later become the town of Erieville. They later moved to a larger farm south of Erieville. Joanna Clark Brown died on the family farm on Apr 15, 1828. Levi Brown died in Utica, NY in 1823 while visiting on business." --D. Tucker

She writes: "I believe most of Levi and Joanna's children were born in Hadley Mass. with perhaps the exception of the last two or three born in 1795, 1797 and 1799. Levi and much of his family emigrated to the town of Nelson (Erieville) about 1795 or 1796."
