!NAME: "There has been considerable misunderstanding about the name of his first wife. A visit to their graves, which ard in a good state of preservation, in the North Burying Ground, in Providence, reveals the names and dates [of Abigail Hopkins, b. 1723, d. 1772]." --A.F. Angell

!IDENTITY: "All accounts agree that the first wife of Nathan, who was the mother of all his children, was a sister of Com. Esek and Gov. Stephen Hopkins, and daughter of William Hopkins, of Scituate [R.I.]" --A.F. Angell
