This deponent says that he is now in the sixty ninth year of his age - that he was born in he town of Cranston in county of Providence and state of Rhode Island in the month of February in the year of 1764.And this deponent further saith that after he left the French Fleet which was in January 1781 he returned to the residence of his parents in the town of Cranston, county of Providence and state of Rhode Island and remained there and in the vicinity of said town until he was about twenty five years of age- he then removed to the town of Stephentown in the county of Rensselaer in the state of New York where he resided about nine years-- thence he removed to the town of Amsterdam in the county of Montgomery [In 1790 Census of Stephen Town is Stephen Hammond, Pardon Hammond, Jeremiah Simmons [husband of Sally] Stephen Potter [husband of Nancy] In 1810 Amsterdam Census is James and Pardon Hammond, brother of Stephen and Stephen Potter, his brother in law.And this deponent further saith that Pardon Hammond of the town of Fenner in the county of Madison and state of New York whose affidavit is hereto annexed and James Hammond of the town of Amsterdam in the county of Montgomery and state of New York whose affidavit is also hereinto annexed are brothers of this deponent James Hammond of the town of Amsterdam and county and state aforesaid being duly sworn according to law doth on his oath depose and say that he knows Stephen Hammond who formerly resided in the town of Cranston County of Providence and state of Rhode Island but now resides in the Town of Fairfield county of Herkimer the deponent further says that he has a brother of the name of Pardon Hammond who now resides in the town of Fenner in the county of Madison and the state of New York and that said Pardon is is brother of said Stephen Hammond.
Madison County-- Pardon Hammond of the town Fenner County and State aforesaid being duly sworn according to law doth on his oath depose and say that he knows Stephen Hammond who formerly resided in the town of Cranston County of Providence and State of Rode Island but now resides in the town of Fairfield County of Herkimer and state of New York
