Notes

!SOURCE: Email from Ron Romano (email hidden) to Weldon Whipple, Nov 2011 and from B. Huckins strongly suggests that Clayton had a twin sibling who died at birth or soon thereafter. That twin wasn't Farrington Hasham Whipple. Census records indicate that their mother, Frances Elizabeth Strout Whipple, had three children, two of them living.
