!SOURCE: "Descendants of Thomas Whipple" and associated family group sheets from the research files of Beverly Huckins (email hidden), mailed to Weldon Whipple, 20 Nov 2003. Beverly writes:

Thomas* as the father of Thomas1(1752) is not conclusive, collateral evidence only as of 2001.

Other researchers have Thomas1 as of Abraham and Mary. This Abraham did have a son Thomas whose exact DOB does not match but is close and who was reported to have died as a young child, 1755. One researcher, now deceased, has father of Thomas as a Joseph Whipple. There was a Joseph Whipple in the northern areas of NH (Franconia) around the time period as Thomas* - see Joseph records. William Whipple (Whipple/Cutt(s) line) had a brother Joseph who started a mill and bought up land grants in this area - unknown if thie Joseph was related to the Joseph who may have been the father of Thomas. William Whipple's wife [i.e. mother --Weldon Whipple] Mary Cutt(s) was a sister to Elizabeth Cutts who was married to Rev Joseph Whipple - this may be the reference to Thomas being related to the Portsmouth William Cutts. (Granddaughter of Thomas1, Deborah Parker Whipple and her husband Frank G. Beaman visited the Franconia Whipple's according to family history and his family of the Sterling, MA line lived in Franconia for a period of time.)

There was a Samuel Whipple living in Norwich VT in 1800 around the time Thomas was there, relationship unknown.

Family history also has the first in the line of Whipples as Thomas Daniel Whipple of Connecticut, however this is likely in error as the use of middle names in this time period was considered immoral in the early Church.

Thomas* was said to have relatives named Nathan Whipple (There was a Nathan Whipple in Sharon, Litchfield Co, CT early 1700's), William Whipple, Daniel Whipple (possibly a brother), a Jemima Whipple and a Z. Whipple and a Joseph Whipple. His father was possibly a Baptist minister in Groton, Conn in the early church formed in 1705. There is a Rev Whipple resided "over west river" Brattleboro, VT (probably Daniel), who held "meetings" in his home and the homes of others in Brattleboro VT area. Preached Brattleboro, Guilford and Halifax, VT, same area where Thomas1 was known to be. Delivered "Historical Discourse" at the dedication of Baptist Meetinghouse, Brattleboro 1780. Rev Whipple is buried in the Old School House Cemetery, west river district old Burying Ground

!RESIDENCES: "of Groton, Connecticut, removed to Brattleboro, VT 1770." --Beverly Huckins, 20 Nov 2003.
