Notes

!SOURCE: Email from N. Combs to Weldon Whipple, 25 Jul 2005. Excerpted from Will County, IL History: Past and Present of Will County, v.2 1907:
William Whipple {29232} came to IL in 1832 from Watertown, Jefferson, NY and was a pioneer of IL, purchasing canal land. Until 1844 he followed merchandising, then he turned to farming. His wife's maiden name was Miss Gibson; she was a native of VT and died at the age of 45. {This doesn't agree with her being 54 on the 1860 census, but she isn't on the 1870 census.} They had two daughters, one of whom--Mrs. Henry Decker--died about two years ago {abt 1905}; the other is Mrs. Thomas Turner of Ford County, IL. Their son is Levi B. Whipple {29231}, subject of this biographical sketch. William Whipple died about six years ago {abt 1901} at the age of 81.
