!SOURCE: Email from Joanne Lahr-Kreischer to Weldon Whipple, 2 Apr 2006. Seneca married Sarah Scull in Warren County, Ohio. Joanne notes that Seneca couldn't be the son of Elijah Whipple:

You have Seneca listed as a son of Elijah and Elizabeth (Comstock) Whipple. Seneca was b. c1804 in Ohio (based on Indiana census records from 1850-1880), yet according to information on the site, Elijah and Elizabeth were married c1807 (they were actually married 31 Mar 1807 in Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio). Seneca couldn't be the son of Elijah and Sally Martin, as she died 4 March 1804 in St. Johnsbury, Caledonia, VT, shortly after the birth of Ira Martin on 8 February 1802 also in St. Johnsbury.

!SOURCE: Email from B. Huckins to Weldon Whipple, 15 Mar 2008. Regarding Seneca's parents, she writes:

I have Seneca Whipple as a son of Elijah and Ellizabeth and I do not understand the notations about his age being off from the census reports. Seneca's actual date of birth was 1.28.1808 not 1804. Seneca says he is 42 in the 1850 Census and 52 in the 1860 census. The only year his age is off is the 1870 census which shows age 65. In additon, The History of Hamilton County Ohio also lists the 11 children of Elijah and Elizabeth and includes Seneca as the first child born with Daniel being the 9th with a further sketch. If Ezra E. Whipple, born and died 1837, was the son of Seneca, that Ezra is buried with Elijah Whipple which also leads me to believe Seneca was the son of Elijah. Seneca died 1.4.1881 and is buried Union Flat Rock Cem with his wife Sarah and some of his children and grandchildren. In the land records Seneca was from Hamilton County when he bought land Ripley.
