YMary A.and John were mar. before the June 1860 census was taken.Y John enlisted on 25 Aug 1862 in Burns, Allegany, NY and was discharged on 7 March 1863 because of disability. (src: Find A Grave)John Wesley Whipple, son of Joseph Whipple {4545} and Mary Doren {4552}, was b. 10 Oct. 1833 in Burns, Allegany, NY.Y He enlisted in Aug 1862 and was discharged because of disability in March 1863. It would appear that [the above Johns are the same person--] prob. John William Whipple {7381} of Burns, Allegany, NY.Y I can't account for the discrepancy in birth dates between Find a Grave and the Civil War Register.
