Lucius Hasham Whipple died of consumption in February of 1858. He was entombed at Eastern Cemetery in Portland initially. Later in 1858, there is a record that he was "removed from tomb to Evergreen 1858."Interestingly, he does not appear on the family plot at Evergreen - his father Lucius does - so while there is a record indicating he was interred there, the record card at the cemetery does not support this. There are 2 undocumented spaces in the family plot, so perhaps he was buried there but no stone was ever placed. Odd, though because the 8 whipples who are there all have stones.
