His place of birth differs from the different children's records and census.Y He was perhaps Yfrom YMassachusetts (1870 census) or more commonly Rhode Island (1880 census and children's records with Yone record showing Smithfield RI.) YHis father, according to the census, was born in New Hampshire. ...The only reference I can find of him, Yother than children and census, Yis in the Stowell Genealogy Y(Record of Desc of Samuel Stowell of Hingham Mass, 1922) which Ydoes not give his genealogy, but does say however born in Maine.Y This was Ythe only reference to Maine I found in my research. (Constant Stowell and Anna Blanchard #230 dau Hannah b Hyde Park 1821 m John Bidwell b England res Hyde Park, dau Maria b Hyde Park VT m 5.13.1866 John Whipple b Maine.)

Whipple {153062} and the son of Cyrus Whipple {108028} and Mary "Polly" Baker {108029}.Y Note that John 153062 names his first son Orren Dexter Whipple, the names of his two older brothers."
