!CHILDREN: "A letter from a granddaughter tells me that there were actually ten children, but she only knew 5. She said there were a pair of twins who died at birth, plus my ggrandfather and a brother who were supposedly from a second wife. The 1900 census shows them as step-children--possible with the last name of Anderson. ... I am having a hard time resolving the 'step-children' notation since I cannot find the death of Susan or the marriage to 'Martha.' The letter I mentioned lists these last two sons as 'half brothers'--the same father as the other children, but a different mother." -- M. Remington
