Gives name John Whipple.
!RELATIONSHIP: "Little is known how he fits into either of the Whipple lines,
since John is a very common name used in both the Whipple families. It is
believed that this John Whipple might have been from the Captain John Whipple
lineage, which came from Providence, Rhode Island." --D.V. Norris.

Dec 2005. Identifies Benjamin Franklin Whipple's father as Isaac P. Whipple,
noting the following:
I would like to share with you some
information on Benjamin Franklin Whipple's (32502) possible father. I could not
find any connection to a John Whipple from Masonville, Delaware County, New
York. What I did find was an Isaac P. Whipple (1820 & 1830 Census
Masonville, Delaware, New York.) Below are the pieces I've been able to put
together. I would really appreciate your thoughts on this. [Included are] my
calculations on ages. There were two separate Court House fires, in Henry
County, Ohio, which destroyed most records. The loss of records in the fires
are the cause for the below listed Legal Notice.I've located a will,
Elnathan Scofield, which mentions his daughter "Aby Whipple." Also mentioned
was Jared Scofield (Aby's brother) as being Isaac P.'s brother in law. In
addition I found "Mary Whipple" as one of the 1st School Teacher's in Flatrock
Township.

appointed Post Master :
In 1833 there was no post-office nearer than
Defiance, but one was established in about 1834, called McClean, after John
McClean, the post-master general. Jared Scofield and Isaac. P. Whipple, his
brother-in-law, were both candidates for postmaster, which was amicably settled
between them, and Isaac P. Whipple became the appointee, this being the first
post-office in the township, and perhaps the first one in the territory of
Henry County. Mail was received about once each month, carried on horseback, by
John Omens, as near as can be ascertained. This post-office was situated about
one mile east of the present town of Florida. - I.P. Whipple 1840 Census

Ohio.
- The History of Fulton and Henry County states on page
225, that the first post office near Florida (Ohio) was established about 1834
with Isaac P. Whipple as postmaster. It remained there until about 1842, when,
at the death of Mr. Whipple, it was moved to Florida (City.)
- Benjamin
F. Whipple married Susan Cover 11-6-1843 in Ottawa County, Ohio
- Susan's

Elliott Gunn was from Maumee Valley, Flatrock, Henry County area.
- B.F.
and Susan's 1st born Aby Elizabeth born 11-6-1845 in Flatrock, Henry County,
Ohio. Looking at the Notice below. They must have traveled to Flatrock numerous
times.
- Susan's mother 1st name was "Elizabeth" Shoop.
- Isaac P.
Whipple wife's name is Abigail "Aby" Scofield.
- B.F. and Susan named
their 2nd son "Isaac P." 1st son's name was "Ira"
- B.F. and Susan named
their 3rd son "Elliott Gunn"
I guess the above could be a
coincidence, but it sure matches up.This note found in Henry County
records.
Notice
To Franklin B. Whipple, James F. Borden, Mary
Borden and Sarah Ann Smith. You will take notice that on the 15th day of March
A.D. 1848 at the office of the clerk of the court of common pleas in Napoleon
Henry County Ohio ... we will take depositions ...to perpetuate the remembrance
of certain proceedings of a suit once pending ... wherein John T. Brazee was
complainant and the above named with John Smith were defendants the object of
which said suit was to foreclose a certain mortgage executed by one Isaac P.
Whipple.I found Sarah Ann husbands name mentioned in previous notices.
Also found one that speaks of his death.
