Emory, known as EA, was in the jewelry business and had a store in Springfield, MA. He also at one time had a business manufacturing watch cases (he is registered with Patek Philippe collectors), and at one time produced tin or silver spoons under the names EA Whipple and EA Whipple and Sons, Springfield, MA. You have a photo of his store in your photo gallery. I have the census reports 1860-1900 and all state his father was born in MA, with the exception of one, which states he was born in CT. (see more on Emory below listings for his siblings)

...As to the parents of Emory, Joseph, Martin and Sarah, the mother's name consistently appear as Lucy, however the birth records for Martin and Joseph shows the parents to be John Whipple and Angeline unknown. Perhaps Lucy is Angeline or these birth records are incorrect. I can find no other record of a John and Angeline. Lucy was born between 1796 and 1797 and died between 1891 and 1900. In 1860 she is living with her son Joseph and her daughter Sarah (Burgess); 1870 she lives with Joseph (Sarah has moved to CT); and, in 1880 she is living with her son Emory.
