!NOTES: In email dated 29 May 200, Richard Jay Whipple (email hidden) states, "I am not sure that Daniel is his {James'] father as I have not located and maybe never wil the grave. At the time this area of PA was wilderness, and many trees. I have found through some great help from the Columbia County Historical Society, where Daniel Whipple migrated into the area from the village of Greenwood to Pine Township. He came with friends from Sussex County New Jersey. I believe he was born in 1765 and probably migrated from Providence to New Jersey and then on into PA. There were some people that continued to be loyal to the King that moved into New Jersey at the time and then moved on into PA. I do know that where Daniel settled, all of the Whipples in my line of the family lived within 20 miles. All were farmers, until the 1900s. Daniel was listed in the 1790 census, and also paid a State Tax in 1795. I cannot imagine there would be two Daniel Whipples living in Columbia County. The 1810 census listed the whole county with 386 people."
