!NAME: Caroline's middle name (Filanti) is unclear in the handwritten letter.
!SOURCE: Email from Beverly Huckins to Weldon Whipple, 12 Feb 2008. She writes: "I have Caroline V. Whipple from a school record." She "was born 5.1.1805, and is noted in The Felt Genealogy, John Emery Morris, 1896, which gives Caroline's married name as Braman, the mother's name as Abigail Wright, father William Whipple of Troy, NY. Caroline died 8.25.1845."

Maj. Waters Whipple Braman (member of the House, resided West Troy, lumber dealer of Troy). Waters Whipple Braman was born in Troy, NY 4.20.1840. The source indicates "His parents, both of whom are dead, were Horace and Caroline E. Braman, the maiden name of the latter being Whipple. His mother died when he was but five years of age, giving him away on her death bed to her brother Waters W. Whipple of Troy, who had been a father to her. Mr. Whipple faithfully performed the trust reposed in him and cared for young Braman as well as he had been an own son . . ."
