!SOURCE: Email from Anne Billeter (email hidden) to Weldon Whipple, 23 Apr 2006. Cites a large monument at a cemetery at Georges Mills that gives Austin L. Whipple's dates as 1840-1863 ("First N.H. Cav.") Anne writes further: "Austin Lyman Whipple died 22 Jan 1863 at Annapolis of disease. His complete war letters are in the archives at the Baker Library, Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH. I agree that in the 1860 census it says Martin L. In the 1850 census it says Austin."
