"On the 29th of August, 1850, the John Whipple family was living on a farm in the Fitchville Township of Huron County, Ohio. John Whipple was 38 and had been born in New York. His wife was Eliza age 30 also born in New York. They had 5 children: Henry age 11 born Ohio, Abner age 10 born Ohio, Darwin age 8 born Ohio, Wm. age 6 Ohio and John 2 years old born Ohio. (Census page 424)"Also cites the 1860 Census:
"On the 14th of June, 1860, the J. W. Whipple family was living on a farm in the Lake Township of Berrien County, Michigan. J. M. Whipple was 49 years old and had been born in New York. His wife was Eliza age 40 and also born in New York. They had five children living with them including Spencer age 20 born Ohio, Darwin age 18 also born in Ohio, S. J. (female) age 3 born in Michigan and Dwight at 6 months. (Census page 455)."
