Notes

I found Elizabeth THORN WHIPPLE in the 1850 census in Galway, Saratoga, NY with her second husband, Justin BROWN, and their combined families. Also living with the family was Zilpha WHIPPLE, age 73. Elizabeth was listed as "Elvira."

I knew that Elizabeth's first husband was Roswell Post WHIPPLE so I did a search for a WHIPPLE married to a POST, figuring Roswell's middle name was the maiden name of his mother.

Sure 'nuff. Found Samuel WHIPPLE (1768-1853) married to Temperance POST. They had son, Roswell, born 1806, died 1839, which fits perfectly.
