!RESIDENCES: "Taken by his parents from Rhode Island to Vermont at the age of eighteen months, and from thence he went to Erie County, N.Y., at a date in the settlement of that county so early that there was only one white family in Buffalo. ... In 1835 Mr. Smith came to Cass County [Michigan]." --E.G. Smith

!BURIAL: Sommerville Cemetery is "located in the northeast corner of section 31, Pokagon Township, and lies about halfway between Dowagiac and Niles and about 8 miles directly west of Court House, Cassopolis, on Hwy. 330." --E.G. Smith
