"I have the parents of Amos as Robert Whipple b 11.24.1754 Gloucester [Massachusetts? or Glocester, Rhode Island?] who res Ashford CT and then Western NY (that part which was bordering Herkimer when the line was moved 1792 and reformed to Cazenovia when Frankfort was annexed to Whitestown with Utica forming from a portion thereof. Whitestown was reincorporated as Whitesboro and the terms are interchangeable and referenced as belonging to Oneida or Herkimer. The Robert Whipple who came with Arnold Wells from Deerfield, MA (Pioneers of Utica, Bagg, 1877, page 32) refers to him as having married while in RI a widow and he came to Utica with the wife and wife's daughter and formed a partnership with Watts Sherman. Watts Sherman m Olivia Jillson dau of Amy Whipple and James Jilson. I do not have the name of Robert's wife however I have seen it listed as Zulphia."
