Whipple and James Whipple were not the children of Luther Whipple Jr. and his second wife. although they were listed on the 1850 census in Springfield, Bradford, Pa as Whipple's, they were actually the children of Ruth Ann Scudder and John Secor. Both David and James carried the name Secor into adulthood."
