Notes

Frederick married Mary Whipple dau of Preserved and granddaughter of Preserved Whipple and Olive Ballou, whose brother James Ballou Jr was the grandfather of President Garfield. Mary Whipple lived but a few years after her marriage and her children were cared for by their father with the assistance of Mary's sister Olive.
