He was president of the Joseph T. Ryerson Steel Co. and partner in the law firm of Isham, Lincoln & Ryerson, of Chicago. The Ryersons, with their son and two daughters were bound home for America. They hadreceived news that their older son, Arthur Larned Ryerson, Jr., had been killed in an automobile accident in Bryn Mawr, pennsylvania, on April 8. While Ryerson died in the sinking, Mrs. Ryerson and her daughters, Emily and Suzette, and son John, survived. He was the husband of Emily Ryerson."
