In 1905 or 1906, Will Reed left one day to go over to his newly purchased property. He hitched up the team of horses, kissed his wife and children goodbye, left, and was never heard from again. His team and wagon were subsequently found alongside the flood-swollen South Canadian River, and it was supposed that he had drowned.
