My question is to ask your source for the name of the father of Lyman L. Lawrence. One aunt wrote that the father was William H. and I have seen that name on the internet, but no source. My own search indicates the father of Lyman was Rufus Lawrence. Lyman and his siblings, as legal heirs, signed a document in Washington County, OH, accepting land that had been previously purchased by Rufus, deceased. Rufus and his family lived in Luzerne CO, PA, before moving to OH by 1810. While living in PA this group of Lawrences signed a petition to the CT assembly to make their land a proper CT county, which was done. These Lawrences, and other residents, considered themselves citizens of CT. The quarrel between PA and CT was long and involved,as you probably know.A second document in Washington County, OH, is a quit claim where Lyman and his wife Anna and Lyman's siblings and their spouses sign over land to their brother Rufus Lawrence. An IL probate document for Asa Olney names Lyman and wife Chloe along with others. (By then Lyman had married Anna's sister.)
Where does William H. come from? I think my Lawrence aunt was confused and somehow pulled William and Scotland out of her memory, perhaps linking William Olney, Nova Scotia, Lawrence and Scotland in a great mix.
