!SOURCE: Email from Barry Wood (email hidden) to the Whipple One-Name Study, 6 Sep 2022. Barry points out that a previously entered death date of 29 Mar 1727 does not make sense unless Jemima had divorced Matthew before 1688 (when he married Joanna Appleton). Barry notes that that "divorce [was] ... unusual for this time and culture ... [and] would have been bigamy if Jemima were still alive." He writes further: "I cannot find any death record for Jemima at all, but tend to think that she must have died, probably of complications of childbirth. shortly after the birth of Matthew Jr."
