She was born 14 May 1796 in New Braintree, Worcester, MA, the daughter of Moses and Lucy (Howe) Whipple. She married Alexander Crawford 1 Jun 1819 in Oakham, Worcester, MA. Alexander was born 16 Apr 1792 in Oakham, Worcester, MA, and died 30 Apr 1873 also in Oakham. He was the son of William and Mary (Henderson) Crawford, as stated on his death record, recorded in Oakham, MA. Melissa died 26 Apr 1887 in Oakham (Death Records - Oakham 1887). Both are buried at Green Hollow Cemetery in Oakham."
