!SOURCE: Email from Beverly H to Weldon Whipple, 4 Feb 2021. I believe she was the mother of his children and died in childbirth Sept 7, 1842. Sophia was buried with James (Cemetery record, Sophia and James buried together, no other wife indicated.)

!SOURCE: Find a Grave web site memorial 203226533. Gives name Sophie Whipple. Her husbands page at Find a Grave (memorial) 203263836 states "His wife was Sophia, but went by Ann. His wife Ann, and his children were all born in Michigan."
